Hyundai Generators are renowned and their range is immense - from just under 1kw leisure units right up to 120kVA three phase, these guys really know what they're doing! And what's more all this is supported by a major presence here in the UK with full technical and service support. These Hyundai leisure gennies are stylish and very reasonably priced with quiet four stroke engines complete with an economy throttle system to keep both fuel cost and noise down while extending engine life. Noise is just 58 decibels* at 7m. The 230v AC inverter output is pure sine wave just like mains electricity and is via 3-pin plug and there is smooth 12v 5A/8A DC charging output at low revs too. The Dual-fuel LPG versions are just perfect for mobile use in motorhomes & caravans even boats! With pure LPG running there's no petrol smell and no problems with petrol going off due to infrequent use - there's nothing worse than an emergency genny that won't start because the petrol has gone off since you last used it! Great domestic backup too, especially if you use LPG both at home & away.
With worries about power supplies this winter we've just bought ours for both domestic backup and as a portable winter power source for the Hymer. In times of crisis we can run the 1KW mains indoors to run everything we need in an emergency - albeit powering rather less equipment than we would use normally! Or we can decamp to the motorhome and run our internet and laptops from there along with tv news - and lpg powered tea & coffee too! In these circumstances the 8A DC is big enough to keep the motorhome charged up and the genny can easily switch into 1000W 230v whenever needed. Its bigger brothers up to 3KW are very capable for those who can accommodate the extra size and weight of course. The LPG version with its ability to start and run without any petrol at all is a key feature for us because when mobile we need store it inside the motorhome while in transit and just couldn't cope with a petrol smell there. Also there are known problems with petrol going off when stored in appliances not used for longish periods of time. So altogether an ideal multi-purpose unit.
The entry level HY1000Si (above left and new 2016 version top right) is very popular for leisure offering a great balance of size, weight, output and cost. It is the smallest petrol inverter generator in the Hyundai leisure range and ideal to take on your camping, caravanning or boating trips. At only 13kg it offers a lightweight and portable 'suitcase' package making this one of the the easiest and most stylish portable generators on the market. At the same time, it provides ample power for all your basic power needs without costing the earth. It runs at a very low noise and has a 1000w maximum output which makes it a very popular choice in the UK leisure generator market, for portable power, for DC battery charging, for garden machinery and even for emergency domestic use as backup power.
The Hyundai HY2000Si (2016 left) is one of the best mid-range leisure generators on the global market. With a continuous 2.0kW output, it is the ideal portable petrol leisure inverter generator with extra power for camping, motorhomes, caravans, boats, tents or anywhere you can think you might need clean reliable 230v AC or 12v DC power. This petrol generator's maximum output of 2200w or 2.2kw, so you'll have more than enough to power your microwave, a small heater or even a hair dryer. When the load is low, like for example, when you're powering a battery charger or lighting system, it has an ECO throttle system which steps in and lowers the engine revs to just above tick over, and this in turn significantly lowers the noise level and also helps with fuel consumption and engine life.
The Hyundai HY3000SEi is the best selling and most popular out of all the generators in the leisure generator range. At merely 1kg heavier than the 2000Si / SEi versions, This Electric start model provides up to 0.6kW more power, making it the ultimate power supply for leisure purposes. It's higher output, improved electronics, new bodywork, plus the remote start capability and impressive performance produces reliable off grid power on camp sites and pitches and with various power tools - all with the benefit of being able to start the generator on the key and even remotely from up to 20 metres. For a bit more performance see also the newer 3200SEi, somewhat heavier and using more fuel but 14% more Watts at 3200W.
Si models are easy pull-start recoil type, SEi electric start options are
on the 3000 series. Product Sheet Downloads:

LPG Powered? Yes - equally exciting are easy switch dual-fuel versions that run on petrol or lpg, ideal for caravanners and motorhomers who often travel with diesel and gas and don't really want to have to carry smelly petrol as a third fuel. Many dual fuel engines need to start on petrol before switching to gas but not these wonderful machines - you can start and run them on LPG - Butane or Propane or Autogas or mixtures - and without any petrol at all! What's more in LPG mode it is even quieter than on petrol, starts easily, runs smoother, has lower emissions and even keeps the oil cleaner - wonderful! Our conversions - as pictured right assembled - are done by Hyundai so there are no warranty issues and the 'regulator' supplied is actually a demand valve that readily accepts pre-regulated gas - so the 28-30-37mbar gas in the 'van is perfect for them and they can be connected to an external BBQ point or hooked up to a bottle+regulator just like a bbq - simples! Snap-in nozzle supplied pre-fitted to the short gas hose. For semi-automatic and convenient operation you might also want a gas tap or remote gas switch in the generator / bbq line because lpg gennies are stopped by turning off the gas supply. Any caravan gas tap and/or Truma's GS8/GS10 switch might be suitable as is just turning off at the bottle. A simple in-line manual gas tap is perfect in many cases but installing in a dedicated gas line or shared bbq point is definitely a good idea particularly for those with an LPG tank or refillable bottles.
By the way, although the large flow controller / regulator is ~126mm deep overall it can easily be removed for transport or storage and/or switching to and from Petrol. The short gas coupling to the genny itself is a quick release type and 'assembly' is via a single thumb screw to hold the regulator onto the pre-assembled studs. The stud block makes the LPG version slightly wider than the standard machine of course. Hyundai have a you tube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/hyundaipowerequip including a video showing the easy swap to LPG and to/from petrol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0DWffwef70
Included: Each generator is delivered dry but comes complete with: Operating manual, Toolkit screwdriver, Spark plug, Oil filler jug, Oil drain spout, 12v leads and clips and flylead ('caravan adapter'), Litre of engine oil, FuelFit additive and 12/24 month rtb warranty. All feature Low-oil and AC Overload protection too. LPG versions come with the LPG flow regulator and prefitted conversion, gas hose/s and snap-in connector. You may wish to add a quick release connector to swap between genny & BBQ point.
Warranty: Generators normally come with variable warranties. For the portable Hyundai units standard leisure use is 2 years, standard domestic use is 1 year, commercial and/or hire use is more restricted. Not everyone is 'upfront' about this but we prefer to be. And with all brands - do read carefully.
Hint: A smaller size genny is often best and most economic for battery charging and for easy handling and transport. To run larger appliances directly from the genny simply choose one of the larger units. Larger units tend to run at lower revs and work less hard than the small one and so sound less 'energetic' even though their measured 'official' loudness may be the same or a bit louder. Smaller units are designed for leisure use not for constant 'work' running, something like 4-5 hours max is expected. Buy Below >>>
Independent Portable Power for motorhome, caravan and boat travel, for power backup at home or small office or shop, power for remote locations like huts and cabins, and for tradesmen especially those working with home and small business customers where quiet no-smell usage is important.
Servicing? No problem, the basic servicing is simple and either DIY or somewhere like a Hyundai Garden products place. Any more complex or warranty issues would be dealt with by the Hyundai distributor where the high level of expertise is just what you want and need and can expect.
Running: Quiet as a Honda? Not quite in all honesty - but very very nearly - and at a fraction of the price! Real world experience: I was standing next to a demo recently and one of the spectators said "... ten times quieter than the one I've got now"! As well as full output there is an 'eco' setting for economy and low noise. NB: Battery charging at 5A takes place at very low revs - from virtually tick over speed.
# Running times on LPG would probably be about 90% of those on petrol for the same number of litres - still much cheaper of course because LPG is so cheap relative to petrol and so dozens of hours on a normal bottle of gas - more convenient than topping up with petrol every few hours. The 12v DC output is achieved at very low revs on all models so they are economical in use for charging, we estimate maximum consumption on LPG of 0.40-0.60L/h across the generator range for this. At >50% load, 230v 1500W, up to 1.2L/h might be consumed. For info an 11Kg Gasit - Gaslow cylinder holds 21.5L of LPG and A Calor 13Kg about 25L.
