Kantop Isomatten & Hindermann Four-Seasons + UK Polar Fold-down Cab Screens and now the Adventure range with optional Skirt - Skiers look no further!
Silver Screens or Silvered Screens? Many people refer to these screens by their common name of 'silver screens' rather like the generic names of 'Hoover' and 'Biro' and 'Caravanette' to identify this well known product group. Our silvered screens are not the original 'Silver Screens' brand sold by J&M.
This page is for standard van cabs including those on coachbuilts as illustrated.
New: Adventure External Screens: Quality External Screens from Europe with extra features including both Extended-over-vents & Remis-compatible-door-pockets as standard supply. There is a bonus feature too - the optional skirt, as pictured lower right, can be retro fitted to the screens for maximum winter warmth. Highly Recommended!
With on-going difficulties over consistent supplies of some screens we've been looking for a quality replacement - and we think this is it. High levels of insulation, soft handle, easy storage, fold-down top section, expandable door pockets & extended over vents cover plus optional retro-fit skirt - wonderful!
Our importer was instrumental in sourcing these new screens and say "...we think this is an improvement on the original design & fit ... conveniently it works on either Remis Blinds or non-Remis Blinds vehicles and comes as standard with an extended flap over the vents and the scuttle vents. Every model can also take a lower skirt when required". The retro-fit skirt attaches via a hidden Velcro seam. Although new here, they have already been trialled by a leading motorhome dealer and given a definite 'thumbs up'. The screen has 8 layers with the external layers made of PVC - which is both water resistant and UV resistant. Made up as one piece, the windscreen section is still able to fold down half way to allow light in during the day. Expanding door pockets are used hold it in place and there are also hooks attached at each side that can be hooked onto the door for added security. Not the cheapest but definitely among the best!
Are they worth it? I'd say yes. Apart from the extra comfort and convenience described above these screens also protect your investment. How? Condensation running down the screen and cab doors runs into the bodywork in a way that just doesn't really happen with cars, these quality screens snugly fitted, can eliminate this condensation in a way that cheaper versions simply cannot. Also excess water entering the scuttle has caused many problems over the years, particularly when it can't get away quickly and then washes over the battery, this has contributed to the growing popularity of over-scuttle cover. Alarmingly, all this can and does lead to hidden rusting over time. Fiats have been fairly notorious for rust over the years and Ducato is the most popular motorhome chassis-cab these days - do beware! Buy Below >>
Four-Seasons Fold-Down External Screens: Now with cord set included: Fantastic value high performance screens for motorhomes including van conversions. These excellent external silvered insulated screens do a brilliant job of keeping heat in during the winter months but out during high summer - so definitely a well named 'four-seasons' product! External screens are the best performers for insulation and reducing condensation but have always been a little tedious to remove and replace every day. Not so with these though because the front section is designed for easy turn-down to any position using heavy duty velcro - so no need to remove them every day if you're not moving on. These motorhome screens cover windscreen and cab doors in a single piece and are easily fitted with no screwing or drilling. They also have small eyelets built into the screen material so you can fit your own elastic straps (not supplied) to further anchor the screens to the wheel arch. They also have some allowance for vent covering (but not as much as the ones below). Made by Hindermann in Germany from a new waterproof thermal sheeting with alu-vaporized polyester film that has been UV stabilized for long life and come complete with a no quibble money back guarantee - another great product and now one of our best sellers! All versions listed below.
"A huge thanks for your prompt service with my order. The screen arrived within a couple days of my ordering and proved to be an excellent purchase. We used it last weekend during a very cold 2 nights, down to minus 4C on sat, and woke both mornings to no condensation on the windscreen or cab side windows. The extra warmth in the luton bed was also a bonus!!!". M.S.
A note about 4-Seasons fit: Feedback on the 4-seasons screens has been excellent but as with all external screens the fit can vary slightly if the motorhome has some added part that gets in the way. This is increasingly common on low profiles and finding its way onto some over-cabs (lutons) too. These close aerodynamic additions at the corners of the roof and/or at the rear of the door or tight over the screen might affect the fit and cause these silvered multi-layer one-piece screens to pucker up slightly - this settles very quickly and then has no effect on performance. A very low over-cab leaving nowhere for the silvered screen to go above the windscreen might also cause some puckering but again this will settle - aided by gently pushing the screens into shape during the first couple of uses. Standard panel van conversions, e.g. 'campervans', don't usually have these issues. This is a largely cosmetic rather than a functional issue since you are able to ease the side screens into a shape that will sit comfortably. The important thing is that we wanted to let you know about it in advance. Buy Below >>>
- the Kantop screens below are more adjustable around the windscreen due to their 3-part
velcro linked design - allowing you to pre-position the screen portion
rather lower in relation to the sides.
Kantop Isomat External Screens Move-down: Thought by our supplier to be the best performing of the normally priced external screens and very highly regarded by customers - "...We have stayed at sites in France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria over the Christmas and New Year period. Temperatures there got down to -15C plus the added bonus of snow! ... Using your outer covers changed the cab temperature dramatically. No condensation, no frost on the inside, no cold draughts fighting against the heating system. Fitting was a piece of cake as well which helps when it's that cold! Thank you very much, great product!" S.A. Also favourably reviewed in the MMM marketplace feature when tested in Scotland. Complete with a no-quibble money back guarantee! It's one of the best what have you got to lose?
Note the thoughtful design generously covering the external vents just below the windscreen to prevent unwelcome winter draughts through the cab vents. These German cab insulation external screens are of bonded construction so remain free of water ingress problems. Highly reflective for both summer and winter use. Supplied in 3 pieces, the sides have flaps that are placed over the corner of the cab doors, you then fix them together with Velcro and secure everything with elastic straps which fit over the body to the wheel-arches to hold the screen set firmly in place, all very neat and close fitting which is of course good for insulation. Velcro, straps, etc. supplied but we do recommend the optional cord kit to enhance stability - especially of the vent covering flap in windy conditions. Some customers have added their own long elastic strap across the screen above the vent cover for such use but do take care not to bend the fabric sharply.
Turn-down? Well not fold-down as such. The nature of the material means you should move-down by repositioning the front panel via the Velcro on the sides or by loosely rolling down. This gives longer life without damage. Kantop screens should not be folded in use or in storage - only rolled. The 3-piece design does make the use of the optional elastic straps near essential when turned down.
Dates & Other Vehicles: Dates given are nominally chassis build dates and not registration dates so you do need to be especially careful at all model change-over points, many late 2006 and early 2007 vehicles can be a problem if not correctly identified but this applies to other model change years too. Our own motorhome chassis was built 20 months before it was registered so if in doubt please do ask for help. The blue Boxer-Ducato examples illustrated here are quite distinctively the later 2007-on model. Also the 2002-2006 Ducato-Boxer facelift model has smooth clear headlamp glass, if your headlamps are squarish with patterned glass then that is the earlier model and we can't help you with all ranges of screens. If your vehicle isn't listed below please have a look at our other screens page here or perhaps contact us for an internal screens made-to-measure quote? Also please note that there are several vehicle groups with identical bodies - Ducato/Boxer/Relay/Jumper, earlier Ducato/Talbot J5s, Trafic/Vivaro/Primastar, Master/Movano, Sprinter/LateLT/Crafter, each takes just the one common screen. Another confusion of late comes from the new VW weight designations but all new T27, T28, T30, T32, are simply T5s. Ford Transit seems similar now, Transit - T3400 for example. Buy Below >>>
